Uploading the zip is OK but it seems you are wanting to learn how to do things.  In English in explorer or my computer click on tools:folder options:view then find the check box and yours has a check on Hide extensions for known file types.  You can uncheck it.  You have the capablility of messing things up some times but not if you are careful and it will give you a warning before allowing you to change file extensions.  I use it all the time.

Thanks folks.
I did manage to get the .zip changed to .cbz but couldn't find the upload button above the site name to upload directly to the site

so I just put it in the rez folder in the FTP and will try another run at the mountain later on after I gather a little more data.

Web of Mystery No.12 is now located in the FTP.

Cheers

Thanks Rez!
Just use the FTP.
The upload button on the site hasn't been working since the big crash and we have no idea when it will be back.

On the block is Black Cat No. 25 1950 Harvey/Home Comics which I see is not on the GoldenAgeComics site listing.

However after checking the book I discover it is incomplete in that towards the end of the book there is a page that is cut in half vertically on a 'Guess Who' added feature on one side and a word printed BlackCat story on the other.

Should I scan this or go for a different book title that will be complete?

In the batter's box is a Toby Press 1953 book titled 'Danger Is Our Business No.1.

Has a 6 page story of Captain Comet by Williamson/Frazetta.
The book os not yet listed in our archives.

Am I swinging at another wild pitch or is this one in the strike zone?

Or there's a book almost rivaling narfstar's Warfront 29 in quality that isn't in the canadian section of the site.
A Superior Publishers book from 1952 'Journey Into Fear No.9.

If we had a contest on the worst shaped comic ever scanned here that Warfront29 would probably win but I'd be a close second with this one. :o

LOL,
I have scans for the Dec'53 IW reprint.  It's a 36pg book.  Not sure how long your original is.

Hmm, I have 16 leaves and the front/back cover leaf.
However the first page(splash page) is an ad for popsicle with Major Mars.
What is on the splash page of the reprint? What's IW?

So it looks like Journey Into Fear #9 is going to step up to the plate, aye?

Hmm, are we sure that the IW reprint is has exactly the same stories as the original?  I know the IW scan of Blazing Sixguns! has none of the same stories as the original Avon comic I scanned and rearranged graphics on the front cover.  I'd like to see scans of both the original and the I.W.s when possible if we are talking about a scanning grade book.  Whether that's a priority I don't know...

Cheers,

Darwin  :)

Hopefully we'll find out as I just placed a Zip file in the FTP site of 'Danger Is Our Business' No.1.

Does make me a bit curious now that you mentioned that.

Hi guys,
I just added Rez's scan to the site.
IW-Super was a reprint line that you can read more about at this cool blog link:
http://ohdannyboy.blogspot.com/2006/10/ross-andru-mike-esposito-iwsuper_16.html

I just took a close look at the original Toby DIOB#1 and the IW reprint.  They were surprisingly similar.  Even the colouring is the same.  Nothing was censored.  Of course the cover and ads are different.  The Toby version was publicly condemned in 1953 for having a near naked monkey featured in one of their ads!  The mistake nearly drove Toby to bankruptcy despite the fact the monkey was in peak physical condition!  It's a little known story that Rez has thoughtfully brought back to light.   ;)

Take care,
-Yoc

Dang YOC, I must have went and grabbed the wrong folder. They were both in My Documents and when reading it in the FTP I clicked on the wrong one.

Won't happen again.

I also just learned that when posting a reply it must be placed above to 'quote' and not after or it will be enter within the quote.

Greetings Fellow Newbie,

The FTP is a temporary 'purgatory style' file loading site where once a member has scanned a book that scanned folder is uploaded to.

It is then in this folder we are now speaking in, via a post in a thread, that the scanner alerts the mods to the fact that a new scan has been placed in the FTP site where the mods can then rework the folder to fit into the goldenagecomics site for access by it's members.

What part of the world do you hail from, comicOD?

Cheers

Ahh, thanks for the info Rez! ;)

I wasn't sure you were talking about FTP or "file trasfer protocol" or not. That info does sound interesting though.

Very much enjoying this site. Golden age comics were faily new to me, prior to joining. I grew up in the
70's and 80's, with Marvel superheroes like the Hulk, Fantastic Four and Spiderman being my favorties.
For a while now, I've really been getting into the older horror, supernatural and suspense comics.

I'm in Ontario, Canada. :)

Well, as a Canadian interested in old horror you might like the Journey Into Fear #9 which should be up soon if it's not already seeing it is from Superior, an old Canadian publisher if I'm not mistaken.
The copy scanned from is really beat and I played doctor a bit with Micro's Paint on the cover to lessen the intensity of the shocking white chunks missing down the spine.

As for the FTP and 'file trasfer protocol' I'm pretty green computerwise to dare comment on it but I gather that was what the FTP stoods for. Prior to visiting the site I had never heard of it as my puter skills were pretty much along the lines of cut and paste and that was about it.

Have been learning a bit more since joining up. Always good to expand a little and the folks here have been pretty patient with me.

Cheers

I'll definately check out Journey into Fear, Rez. Thank you! :)

The quality doesn't concern me at all, Rez. I'll be happy just to check it out. See if there
were any quality comic book artists up here. ;) Thanks for you work.

I don't really know if there were all that many comic book companies up here in Canada? U.S
comics sold extremely well here. Marvel, DC etc. In fact, that all I can remember buying.
Marvel was my favorite growing up. Hulk and Fantastic four especially.

The golden age era was a bit before my time. I was born in '72.
