So where do they go?
« on: August 28, 2008, 03:20:52 AM »

Speaking of the 25 newest downloads available

Where do the scans go when they leave that 25 listing being pushed off by new entries?

I mean is there like a purgatory pool of books awaiting to be alphabeticalized for placement in the unsorted file?

Just wondering. ???

 :-\
It's just a list of links to the books in the order I add them to the actual site.
The list is only 25 names long.  I'd love to see it be able to list them by the week or the month but I haven't a clue how the system works.
But until the book is already on the site in it's proper place - you wont see it on the list.

I hope that cover it.

Again, I have no information on the site's innards, but I'm guessing that the "last 25" page doesn't actually exist--nobody types it in.  Every time you visit there, in quasi-technical terms, it asks the database (think in terms of a spreadsheet) for all the names, sorted by date, but only give the top twenty-five on the list.  So, nobody maintains it, and there isn't a "last twenty-five before THIS twenty-five" or anything.

Yes, that's correct.
It's an addon feature of the software used to run the site.
Serj is the only one that knows how it works AFAIK

By the way, it's not a perfect solution, but I find that, if you're using Firefox and install the "Table2Clipboard" extension, you can do the "search for a period" thing, copy the entire list (table), and paste it into your favorite spreadsheet program to be sorted by the heading of your choice, which happens to include the upload date.

As I said, it's not a great solution, but it does the job if you don't need to use it very often.
