NotesTALKIE COMICS is a one-shot anthology comic, published by the Offset Printing Company in 1944. It’s listed as ‘an Eric Porter Studio publication’ on the cover – and all but one of the stories are written and drawn by Eric Porter: WADDLES WOMBAT, DOCTOR McDOWELL, SPY RING, WILLIE WOMBAT, and YOUNG BILL. The other story, THE ADVENTURES OF DICKON NEAL, is written and drawn by Rowl Greenhalgh, who was a member of Porter’s studio.

Talkie Comics sounds random, but Eric Porter had previously produced Movie Comics, and a talkie is a movie with sound. During the Transition after 'The Jazz Singer', when moves were being released with and without sound, talkie was a useful term to differentiate.

The second page of the Dr McDowell story is blurred, obviously the fault is in the original scan..

@TheAustralianPanther - checking the original scan, it looks much clearer than what appears here. I'll re-up it again with the clearer version. There were issue in getting this one online, due to the size (in kilobites) of the original scan. I suspect someone had changed the setting on the scanner. All the pages were compressed, and it appears that page 4 of the file got compressed too far! I only checked a sample of the compressed pages and obviously this wasn't one of them. (Sorry whoever is approving this upload!)
