I had never heard of this strip. Checking Markstein's Toonopedia I learned it evolved from Phil Hardy, an early kid-against-the-world strip by the same author. Ben replaced Phil and "whoever this guy is" replaced George Storm as artist. I had to double-check that this sequence dates from 1936, not 1926. Both story and art are awfully dated.
