I used to look forward to these issues. Frank McLaughlin's stories and art are good, and Dick Giordano makes Sarge Steel his own (helped by Steve Skeates' scripts).

But "The Japanese Sandman?" Groan...or was I the only kid who'd heard the Tin Pan Alley song of that name?

Not aware of that song. My first ever commission was to have Frank draw a Judomaster for me

YouTube has a couple of recordings, although I wonder if the writer was inspired by the Cellos doo wop song Rang Tang Ding Dong (I Am the Japanese Sandman) rather than the 1920's The Japanese Sandman?
