Took a look at this as it’s a live topic.

Great cover and Futuro art from Reed Crandall. I loved the packed activity inside every frame and of course the US Futurians reminded me a little of the Watchmen. The script itself was underwhelming – but I liked the allegory that Hitler killed Truth!

Madame Strange was interesting – great pencils from Pagsilang Isip, who Google tells me was a Filipino artist – I’ve always liked Filipino comic books – Mars Ravelo’s Darna, of course, being an alltime favourite. The storytelling was somewhat jagged and we won’t mention the appalling racial stereotypes but a fair yarn none the less.

In my efforts to carry out rigorous research, I watched The Lost City on Youtube – someone has to. Although there clearly wasn’t a lot of money available, I’ve seen worse productions – the set design was good in parts. The comic book adaptation was fairly accurate with great pencils from Rudy Palais. The threat to erase Claudia Dell’s mind doesn’t seem like much of a threat bearing in mind the absence of any apparent brain cells in her character - and the Living Dead Men weren’t as scary as some Year 10s I’ve had to teach on a wet Thursday after break – but overall, well worth the read.
