These early editions of Charlton's 'Hot Rods and Racing cars' were obviously done by somebody who knew their cars, unlike later issues which were generic, second-rate and boring.
I wonder if it was Pat Massuli, who identifies himself as executive editor?
The Rambler Rebel was apparently 'credited for being the first factory-produced intermediate-sized high-performance car. This later became known as the muscle car market segment.' 'At that time, the 250 cu in (4.1 L) engine was the smallest American V8', so good choice to highlight. If you really wanted teenagers who were car mad to read this comic, (and who else would?) this kind of detail should have been considered essential.
