« Reply #127 on: February 06, 2010, 05:19:11 AM »

Hi Gang,
I just thought I'd take a quick count of how many of Jim's books have been scanned and shared on GAC since we started this noble project back in Sept-Oct 2008.

[drum roll please]
Approximately 440 scans and counting!

Way to go scanners and please keep'em coming!

Nice.  I fully understand people not caring for the romance books in general.  But some of them have some of the best comic book art ever done, lots of it by Matt Baker.  Really looking forward to seeing these scans.

Seems like most of the comics I have been downloading lately are from your collection, so only fair that I help out a bit on the postage  :)

Shamefully I too have enjoyed many of Jim's gems and like a sod I have not donated properly out of thanks.

I will be addressing that shortly and making some direction toward righting my deficient.

Don't be ashamed, boox.
I'm a little concerned in that I'm sitting on a couple of hundred dollars of folks' money and would like to be spending it on postage to scanners. As I think Geo, who came to visit yesterday, will attest - there's a LOT of comics here awaiting scanning. I'd MUCH rather the money was being used than being accumulated.

Not that I'm haranguing the scanners. I'm sure that they're all going full bore, but the magnitude of the task is rather huge. I think TIME is the limiting factor here, not postage costs.

Still, every contribution will eventually be used - I hope.

I just contributed $30.00, and will send more when I can. Thank you so much for sharing. And, if perchance, the issues of Western Killers (Fox) that have the virtually unseen Jack Cole stories show up (#70 and maybe 69... not 100% sure), I would be most grateful to see these, as I am working on a book about Cole's last stories. But no worries... I'd contribute in any case... admire your spirit.

Got the $30, Paul,
Thanks. Now scanners, I'm back in Palo Alto where all the comics are. Perhaps it's time to USE some of this postage fund to move some comics out into the scanisphere.

p.s. - I had a wonderful exchange with Michael G.(a really nice guy), who chimed in here recently, and had always been one of my creator/heroes...an windfall benefit of participating here.

I will scan the books that are spineless in folders. I do not care what company they might be and I think you have them separate from the company books.

All the more reason why every single possible PD romance comic should be scanned and archived, but beside the artists and writers on the books, it's a sadly neglected part of The Golden Age of a genre that has faded from American Comics.

Humor and Funny Animal get more respect than Romance.
