In the NEA strip Freckles never got to enjoy "friends" like the ones on the cover of this reprint. Funny how in the strip Freckles keeps bouncing back and forth from empty Orphan Annie eyes to having dots for pupils.

I bought this book solely because of the cover, It is all downhill from there.  they eyes thing weirds me out. It is obvious the artist can draw eyes normally from his other characters. It perplexes me that he did the main character those soulless eyes
