You can see why Dick Giordano gave the Blackhawk series to Pat when Dick moved to DC.
Boyette was comfortable with both the fantastic (sci-fi) and mundane (military) elements which were incorporated into the series.
Unfortunately, it was already slated for cancellation, and Pat's two-issue run (which got rid of the campy "superhero" aspects) was well-received, but "too little, too late."
