This book shows rather casually what good pen-and-ink artists the Brits were. I don't know how important the School Friends Annual was to illustrators in the UK in 1953. But they performed like it was a major graphic showcase. The art is a little restrained (typically British) and the hatching somewhat prolix, but the drawing is more than satisfactory. Very solid, very good commercial art.
