Has anybody ever thought of fixing up a glossary of some of the terms used in these stories?

American readers, who are not au courant with the traditions of the British Public Schools, might wonder about the use of "fag" as a verb, or why one group of students is called "the Remove".

Americans haven't grown up with this kind of story since the days of Frank Merriwell. And the last attempt to revive that character (a 1940's radio series) was heavily cloaked in nostalgia.

A glossary would help those of us gormless Yanks who might want to read a kind of fiction that was a decided influence on the likes of J. K. Rowling.
