Are recordings of any of these radio comedians still available (and legal for CB+ to host)? I'd like to hear some.

Paw,
I used to listen to a British comedy show in the late 50's. All I know about the show is a catchphrase.
One of the characters used to be introduced in this way. Somebody would enter a room/car/building and spot something and give an exaggerated negative description.'What is that horrible, ghastly, foul etc.' To which the response would always be a droll, cartoonish, 'DO YOU MIND?'
Any idea what the show was?

Cheers.

I immediately though of ITMA  (It's That Man Again) but there's a list of catch phrases from the show here:-
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/It%27s_That_Man_Again
and 'DO YOU MIND?' isn't one of them.
Sorry, stumped and Linda doesn't know either.

It sounds to me like something from the Goon Show or a line that Kenneth Williams would use.

Good suggestions.  Hadn't considered the Goon Show. I sometimes listen to the re-runs of Round the Horne.  I'll pay more attention to the next one.

I was at the garden centre today and I overheard a comment which immediately made me think of Tony Hancock, and I have a feeling that you were listening to Hancock's Half Hour.  Have a ponder.
