It's ironic that both the front cover and page one carry the credit "Screen Play by MARGUERITE ROBERTS and NOEL LANGLEY". Marguerite Roberts had her name removed from the on-screen credits by MGM with the permission of the Screen Writers' Guild because she and her husband pleaded the Fifth Amendment when they were questioned by HUAC in 1951, the year that the film was made.
