Congratulations on making it to 25, OtherEric!  A milestone is a milestone!!!  I've seen people come and go in this hobby, and if you haven't cracked by the time you reach 25, you're probably pretty solid ;D

Got me wondering now how many books i've gotten through since I started, most of the G.A. Books i've done have all been put to one side ( to avoid rescans) so it would'nt be THAT hard to count them all.

Problems come from trying to remember all the books that i've sold on after scanning, More Fun Comics_031 and Pep Comics_010 are but a couple that come to mind but i'm sure there are others.

Also do 'Silver Age' books count ?

I've worked my way though a few Harvey's, Charlton's Towers's and products from at least two 'other' companies  ;)in my time.

Even an 'Aussie' Book, an issue of Doomsday now I think about it maybe it might be harder working out a figure after all !!!

Well, it's easy for me to count since I'm fairly new at this.  But I also keep a folder with copies of all my cbz's just as reference.

I hope I don't crack, Cimm.  Scanning books, in particular from the gone and unowned publishers, is important.  If fans like us don't make some of this material available, it won't be that long before the books fall apart from age and are lost.

Ok, mostly it's fun and if I'm posting stuff I don't feel guilty playing kid in a candy store downloading stuff.  :)  But I do believe there's an important element to it as well; which goes a long way to helping me not feel bad when I drop a book a half-grade while scanning it.

Congrats on #25 Eric!!
Bravo!

I'll be adding these shortly.  I see I've got a couple issues of Animal Comics (NMS) that aren't up yet so I'm uploading them right now.

Keep up the great work!

Wow, thanks for those 2 issues of Animal Comics, Yoc.  More Kelly is always a good thing.

Speaking of which...

Animal_Comics_030.cbz

are both up on the FTP.

That it is!  The only downside- and it's _very_ minor- is that you posted a copy of the issue I have on the way to me right now.  So I don't have any more left to post right now.  But I'm _seriously_ looking for more issues right now.

Is there anything else by Kelly that might be allowable here?  I've been told most of the Four Colors are already scanned; not that I have any that aren't already up here.  I know the rule on Dell is no unless we get specific title by title clearance.  I would love to see some of the Fairy Tale Parade issues beyond what we have.  (I should start looking for those too; even if they're not allowable here does anybody know if the non-FC issues are scanned yet?)

Anyway, the Kelly fans should be happy.  I'll try and find something for the superhero fans next. :-)

The Dell4Color Project has been going on for years - I'd expect they'd have almost all of them by now so I'd hold off on buying those unless it's a book you really want to own.
I really enjoy The Brownies from the 4Color series.
I've got a few 4Colors that aren't up on the site yet that I'll add quickly before I'm off for a holiday that'll last about 10 days or so.

Have you seen the oddball book 'The Glob' that Kelly illustrated in 1952?

Oh, I expect the FC issues are all scanned.  But Fairy Tale Parade ran for 9 issues BEFORE they joined the FC numbering, in a reverse of the normal order of things.  I have no idea if any of those are scanned.  In general, I want actual copies of as many of the Kelly books as I can get; but they're not THAT high on my list if I can get PD scans instead.

I've only seen a few images from "The Glob", it sounds like fun.

Enjoy your holiday!

Most of the Dell 4C's would not be public domain anyway which is why that section will eventually vanish, l never wanted a 4C section. When l last looked the scanning project was still missing a few scans.

Thanks for the clarification; I did know Dell was very much in the "check carefully first" category but I didn't realize you were planning on getting rid of the whole FC section.  (I imagine Dell in general is probably the worst minefield for the PD or not PD question.)

There are two other issues of FC that are only scanned from fiche.
27 Mickey Mouse
98 Lone Ranger
and we're looking for improvements.

I have paper copies of all issues of Fairy Tale Parade and was just starting to scan those before I got sidetracked to Funnies, so those will pop up soon here if allowed.  I also have Tiny Tots, a Dell one shot by Kelly.

I have or know people who have all unscanned issues of Animal except #1, so don't go out of your way to buy those just to scan.  For Our Gang, only 7 and 8 are missing, but that's a lot more scanning.  -- SO little time.

Camp Comics (2 or 3 issues I forget) was partially by Kelly and only one fo those has been scanned.  I'll have to check which.

I scanned The Glob some years ago.  It's Golden-Age ('52), but not a comic.  I could upload that here if desired or put it someplace.  I believe I posted it to ABPC within the last two months.

I just scanned the four covers to Animal #26 which were somewhat damaged in OEric's scans.  I will FTP those this evening.

Hi Jon,
Check Eric's folder on the FTP.
I also asked him about missing All-American Scribbly stuff.
Perhaps you guys can discuss them off list.

Take care,

And, concluding my share of the Funnies 1-29 project:

The_Funnies_24.cbz uploaded to the FTP

Once again, a huge thank you to Jon for the scans of not only the cover, but the first wraparound.

Not sure what I'll have for next week; the Funnies and Animal are definitely my two showcase projects.  But I've got about 20 odds and ends left on my pile, and I'm looking for more.

Hi OtherEric,

Thank you so much for your scans of The Funnies!! I can't wait until I get to download #24!!
When I first started scanning early issues of The Funnies and Popular Comics in 2003, I felt that I was going to be the only one doing it... But now I see others scanning and posting them and it makes me soooo very happy!!

Well, I guess I better get my copy of The Comics #3 (Dell, May, 1937) scanned soon, eh?

~Jeff ^_^

Just found a copy of Animal Comics 14 today, I'll get that (and hopefully 6 and 20, once they show in the mail) up quickly.

Today's addition to the fun:

Crack_Comics_09.cbz

It's coverless, and the only cover I could find was a fairly poor resolution one at the GCD.  If anybody knows where I can get a better image, let me know and I'll update the file before Yoc gets back and moves it over.

Yoc often manages to come up with decent cover scans from Heritage, maybe he can find one there for this book once his back in the saddle.

Thanks for filling in another 'Crack' Eric !

I actually did go look at heritage but didn't see a cover for this issue.  But my Search-fu is weak, I fear.  Perhaps somebody else can do better.

It's not on Heritage.  The search works much better if you put # in front of teh number, in this case Crack #9.  Be sure and search the completed auctions as well.  You have to register to do so, but that's easy and I've seen no spam.

Apparently Crack #9 has been scanned from fiche, I'm trying to locate that scan.

I got the Crack #9 fiche scan and found the ifc ibc and bc from a contemporary issue of Smash. (I used the indicia from an earlier Crack changing the # and date after verifying it was otherwise identical.)  I deleted your upload of Crack and replaced it with a full one including the four covers.  The front cover is still a fiche copy.

Hope you don't mind, but I figured Yoc had enough to do when he got back and this would save one or two steps for him.

All Heritage had was this one, which is not in very good condition unfortunately.

Thanks for the scans Eric.

The Crack Comics 09 in Eric's folder does not have the ifc ibc and bc, where did you upload it to Jon? l have deleted the one that was there, if you like to just put links for the extra covers l will add them and upload it again with a resized front cover.
