Spire Christian Comics - Archie and Jughead save souls!

http://www.carpsplace.com/spire/spire.htm

This person has uploaded PDFs of the evangelical Christian comic book company, "Spire Christian Comics."

In the 1970s, Archie creator Al Hartley (who had become a Christian Evangelical decades earlier) let Spire license the use of his Archie Comics characters as a tool to prosthelytize. The comics imply Al himself wrote and drawn them, but I have no idea how true that actually is. The website has three issues scanned in as PDFs to download along with a lot of other Spire comics.

The best one is Archie's Something Else, where a radical hippie (in 1975!) comes to Riverdale, bringing with him sin and drugs. Mr. Weatherbee brings in a TV crew to show the good side of the school and Archie and his pals let them know about their bible study group. In the end, they convert the hippie.

That issue also contains this unfortunate image sequence for a christian comic...

The mind boggles as regards Archies absence in the first panel.

Interesting to note also that with Archie's sudden appearance in panel two the hanky seen in the previous panel has mysteriously vanished !  :o

I enjoyed the Archie Spires.   They turned me into a born-again Archie fan, and that's no lie.

ya know, I found an 'Oral Robert's True Stories' #117 Cry No More comic dated 1959 in the stash the other day. I knew I had several of them but the others are stuck in the shuffle somewhere awaiting a rainy day rediscovery.

It was a monthly publication of 8 leafs and the cover that ran something like 19 issues then 14 issues under the 'Junior Partner' title before stopping in 1961.
No signature or credits for the artwork.

I've been focusing my scan time to PDs for the site here

but when the well runs dry or I get a new scanner with the less than 10seconds a page I'll do that.

Any chance you would scan it? I'd love to see it.
