I often find myself bemused by the advertising in Golden Age US comics. Did anyone work out who was reading comics and aim the ads at them or did they just sell ads blind? The inside front page ad for Pipes has triggered this comics. And pretty sophisticated pipes they are too. If they were advertised in a seventies comic you could guess who the ad was aimed at, but in 1948? Oh, and a Pot-luck slot machine. that's a fun toy to play with! and a free roll-up pouch!
Re the ad on page 33, did they really send lighter fluid through the mail?
Times do change, don't they.
