Key's Crime Detector #s 3 and 4 introduced the character who would become Mike Hammer. Any chance of seeing them here?

Every chance in the world. These are part of the JVJ collection, which we hope will all eventually be scanned and end up here. It is a large collection and will take time. Perhaps if you donate to the JVJ postage fund you could talk Jim  and one of the scanners into making KEY published books a higher priority. I like KEY and would like to see them myself

Talk to the scanners, mw.
the idea of the JVJ scanning project is that they PULL things from the collection. I don't PUSH the selections. The current scanners are:

narfstar
othereric
jonthescanner
ontology
blastaar
geo

Jon just got a new batch of Wings, so he's probably not going to be receptive. narfstar is opting for books he can autofeed into his scanner, and the Key Comics don't qualify. Blastaar is focusing on early Charltons. I'm happy to provide the books, you just have to negotiate with a scanner to request them...

Good luck.

Peace, Jim (|:{>

We've been trying to focus on specific publishers or projects to keep life easier for Jim.  But we'll see; we really haven't touched Key much and perhaps a box from them would be interesting.  It will still be a couple weeks until I get more books as I catch up on my own for the moment.

Meanwhile, you have found the other Spillaine books we have here, right?  He wrote the text stories in several early issues of Target Comics that I know of- books I scanned from JVJ's collection, in fact!

no no no narf.
Complete ATLAS collection, yes. Lots of non-superhero Timely's, yes, also. "Complete Timely" - definitely NOT. In fact the new GA Masterwork line is the first time I've seen many of them.

I've told you a million times, don't exaggerate...

I just examined my thoughts, narf,
and I've always wanted to SEE those Timely books, but I can honestly say that I've never "wished" I could own them. I long ago came to terms with my parsimonious habits and simply don't think about things I can't afford. A lot less stress that way.

The main thing I've learned from finally get my chance to see those early books is just how LITTLE I really know who drew most of them. They are, indeed, humbling.
