He's damn annoying to me Rez!
More unusable scans are added than not and I have to double check them as he doesn't know better than not to upload GM books, modern reprints, etc OR to bother registering or looking here on the message board to learn what is and isn't allowed.
:(

Today's unusable uploads -
Air_Fighters_v2_#07 - paper - incomplete ---  we have it already in paper+fiche -c2c
Airboy Comics_v03_#06 [Jul'46]-15pg-AB only  ---  we also have this already with many more pages from FF.

Sorry Yoc I should have removed those when I checked the others. I have started being sure to download his stuff and check it. I added his paper pages to the blackhawk and checked to make sure planet was not gm

Np Narf.
I double checked that Planet as well... I'm guessing you added the 'not GM' to the description.

I'm certainly not upset with you Narf.  You're a huge help to the site and message board!

It's Guest User that's on my nerves.  As much as I love his enthusiasm for wanting to share missing scans there are rules we must follow for what can and can't be allowed on the site.  It's all here on the board.  He only has to read them.  If he would register we could also send him a message directly.
The situation is what I find annoying.  Not Narf!

I believe that Planet #42 is actually a GM issue.  While someone has tightly cropped every page you can still see signs of an identifying mark in some of the borders.  I have the same uncropped scans and teh label reads "Graffix Multimedia".

But don't despair, Planets #42 is one of the ones I'm getting from JVJ. in my current box.

*sigh*
Thanks Jon.  I'll remove the book now.
Another bad sign for the GU.  Some thought will have to be given on allowing non-members to upload.

My guess would be torrents or DC++.
All he's done so far is check his sources for stuff we don't have.  I haven't seen a single upload that wasn't scanned by someone else.

Don't get me wrong here - I LOVE that he wants to fill our site with missing books!  I do!  But I just wish he'd READ THE DAMN FAQ and know what is allowed and what isn't!

GU - follow the example of TIGGER!  He's great for finding missing scans and uploading.... hey, he hasn't done a flood in a good while.  Well, anyways I encourage uploads is my point.  But for everyone's sake please read the RULES!

I was wondering, myself...can't you just put the upload feature behind the "login wall"?  Anonymous uploading never seems like a good idea.

Sure John, I could turn off the option of non-member uploads but then someone like FreddyFly never would have gotten his start so there are upsides and downsides to the idea.
One lives in hope G.U. will finally register.

Perhaps not.  While I hope he'll forgive the slight invasion of privacy (and I hope you'll forgive me beiing purely anecdotal, since I can't talk about every possible scanner), his profile shows that Freddyfly had an account months before his first scan.

I know what you mean, and security is always a tradeoff, but how many people could love the site so much that they'll upload new material, but would refuse to log in?  Especially when you consider that accounts can be essentially anonymous.

As usual, I'm more "thinking out loud" than arguing the point, so don't mind me unless you're investigating the decision.

I changed the Guest User to Dell4c sorry about the mistake. I think I am the one who put Don W up and must have credited wrong.

More books for all

If someone finds something wrong with these books that I missed let me know. The Vic Flint has edited scans of what we already had so people can choose their preference.  Captain Rocket is an almost complete issue to replace the one story we had and Hopalong is nearly complete

I have the 'Full' issue of Captain Rocket (c2c) scanned from JVJ's collection sitting on the HD, I just haven't got it edited yet. So we will have one soon.
